Spring in the Antelope Valley!

Whenever I need to buy organic foods, I just go to my local health food store, the Whole Wheatery. They don't have a large selection of fresh produce but it's enough for me. We only have this one health food store that carries fresh produce here in the Antelope Valley that I know of.

They also have a few selections of organic nuts and seeds in packages, stuff like that. And, I've noticed some organic milk and butter there. Oh, yes... they have free range chicken and buffalo (I guess I should say bison because that is what they really are).

Taking Advantage

I try not to shop at the Whole Wheatery. One, it is over-priced. I find the identical organic products at Trader Joe's or the Whole Foods Market at half the price.

I do go to the Whole Wheatery as a last resort (if I am entertaining and ran out of something). The customer service is great, but the owner is greedy (granted business is business; but I do not have to support a varacious woman). The produce quality is usually bad unless you get it the day it comes in.

I am lucky...my sister and I are both pro organic foods. We teamed up and we alternate going to the Whole Foods Market in the SF Valley once a week: which means, two trips each per month. We coordinate our trips with family or friend time.

With list in hand, we both shop for each other. It does not take much longer than shopping for just one person.

The identical vitamins can be found at the vitamin shop on Reseda and Devonshire (30% cheaper). Also, in the SF Valley...but we swing by when we go shopping at the Whole Foods Place.

On a good note, whenever you can catch the Whole Wheatery's restaurant open, it is worth eating there. I tend to shop at the Whole Wheatery as my take-out joint. I eat out at the AV maybe once a month. I prefer the selection in the SF Valley. But what stops me again is my lack of desire to contribute to a ravening individual,s pocket.

More Organic Foods

I can buy organic foods at Trader Joes as well. I like the Whole Wheatery better though. They seem to have a better quality. But sometimes I find things at Trader Joes that they don't have at the Whole Wheatery so it's helpful.
