Easy Grind Nibs
Using the Oster Mini Jar

The easy grind nibs method makes all the difference in the world. It's faster and does a better job. The Oster Mini Jars have provided me great service for over 20 years. I'm still using those same little jars. I just did a test to see if I could do a better job grinding the cacao nibs for my healthy chocolate recipe treats.

I first used the blender and then tried the mini jars. What a difference. The easy grind nibs procedure was easier and the result of the rich dark chocolate color of the mixture came faster.

Note:: It's important as well that you begin with 50% nibs to 50% powders. It grinds better that way.

  • 6 Tbsp - Cacao Nibs
  • 3 Tbsp - Cacao Powder
  • 3 Tbsp - Mesquite Powder
You'll add more powder later when you combine this mixture with the liquid in the final steps.

The Easy Grind Nibs Steps Using the Oster Mini Jar

These steps can be used for the Basic Cacao Nibs Recipe and variations, as well as any other healthy chocolate recipes you or I can come up with.

Step One

  • Ensure the Mini Jar and blades are thoroughly dry.
  • Put cacao nibs in the Mini Jar first and then add the other dry ingredients.
  • Blend about 1.5 minutes at slowest speed.
Step Two
  • Stop blender and remove the Mini Jar from the blender, shaking down the mixture in preparation of taking off the blades.
  • Remove blades carefully over a plate to catch any residue that sometimes jumbs out.
  • Stir with spatula and then put the blades back on and return to blender.
Step Three
  • Blend again for about 30 seconds at slowest speed.
  • Stop blender, remove Mini Jar and shake contents down so you ensure they don't pack around the blades. You DO NOT remove blades at this time, you are just shaking down contents.
  • Put Mini Jar back on blender and blend again for 30 seconds at slowest speed.
  • Do the last 2 steps about 1 or 2 more time.
Step Four
  • Stop blender and remove the Mini Jar from the blender, shaking down the mixture in preparation of taking off the blades.
  • Remove blades carefully over a plate again to catch any residue that may fall out.
  • If your blades are really sharp, you may be done. Your mixture will be a rich dark chocolate color, well blended (not dark and light).
  • If your mixture does not look as stated above, and depending on the smoothness you desire, cool down and do Step Three another time or two.
  • If you are happy, end here with your cacao nibs grinding.

You are now ready to combine your liquids and complete your recipe or put this in the refrigerator for later use. The Mini Jar is a great storage container as well, if you have a few and won't need it for something else.
