Chia Seeds - Mixing in Foods

If I add a tablespoon of chia seeds in my oatmeal can I eat it soon after with out letting it soak in the water & how long does it take to digest??
I know there are people who say you can do that. But there is a factor to consider.
Chia seeds do absorb a lot of water even when you eat it dry. If you drink an 8 ounce glass of water (about 20 minutes) before you start eating, you have a good start in providing enough water to your chia seed water requirement.
I personally think 8 ounces of water would be enough for 1 tablespoon of chia when you eat it with oatmeal. But this should be something that each individual should evaluate for themselves. Everyone is different when it comes to digestion and food.
For me, I would start out drinking the 8 ounces of water and adding a teaspoon of chia seeds to my oatmeal. Then if that works out okay, I'd go to 2 teaspoons of the chia in my oatmeal (always drinking the 8 ounces of water 20 minutes before I eat.)
As far as how long it will take to digest, when I eat the chia seed gel with my oatmeal, I don't get hungry for several hours (3 or 4, sometimes longer depending on what I'm doing.
It's best to test for yourself to see how your body's digestive system works with this new food.
I hope this helps to give you some ideas. I have found that there are many ideas about this on the Internet. It's important to evaluate the information for yourself and see what works for your particular body.
Here are some other articles about chia seeds I've written that may give you more ideas.
